The Wait

I wait, in a dark box
it came as a light
a flickering thought
my mind’s tired flight

We wait all our lives
to be heard
fighting to unlearn
what our heart has learnt

Do I dare to dream
of a day when I fly
or do I walk head bowed
under a crimson sky?

I wait, with a breath bated
unwishing a silence
if only they’d hear
my bereaved innocence

Do I dare to tell the truth
for I am so confused
If I were to lie
would I lie my way out of here….
