Athena’s fight

image

When it calls do I turn back
Or do I flip some pages on my paperback
Does my silence know it’s time?
Will it wait for until after the attack?

When death knocks on my door tonight
Do not I step forth into the light?
Do I cower behind my putrid heart
Or do I stand up and put up a fight?

When they tear down these walls
As the Augustian water duly falls
Do my feet stay in protest
Or do I ensure they don’t stand at all?

In the end when the blood flows
Through these empty broken bones
I wonder what the story would have been
I wonder at my broken doors

Now this life is at its final breath
I have fought and welcomed all their deaths
How mighty was their final fall
The one that under the rug was swept….
